Operations Intern

On Deck is hiring a remote Operations Intern. This is an internship position that is 100% remote with no geographical restrictions. Work remotely from anywhere. On Deck – Where top tech talent goes to explore what’s next.

About On Deck
This is the abbreviated version. If you wish to learn more about On Deck, visit the home page of our Career Hub.
On Deck is building a modern education institution: helping the world’s most talented, ambitious people learn the skills and build the networks they need to start — or get in on the ground floor of the next great tech companies.
Our core offering is the On Deck Fellowship: an intensive 10-week program offering extensive expert-led curriculum, and building community around a group of experienced engineers, designers, operators, and repeat founders. Once described as “joining a great company full of super talented people—and proceeding straight to the “mafia” phase.”
To date, 450 Fellows have founded around 180 companies, and raised over $90M from some of the best investors in the world. Over the coming years, On Deck will seed many thousands of new world-changing startups, and you have the opportunity to be a part of their journey from day zero.
The Company
We’re backed by an all-star line up of investors including DCVC, Village Global, Signalfire, Bloomberg Beta, Canaan Partners, Keith Rabois (Founders Fund), Dylan Field (Figma), Heather Hartnett (Human Ventures), Gagan Biyani (Udemy, Sprig), Sander Daniels (Thumbtack), Alexia Bonatsos, Henry Ward (Carta), Charlie Feng (Clearbanc), Adrian Aoun (Forward) and more.
“Future founders wanted.”
On Deck is where the most ambitious future founders want to work.
We value the founder mindset and hire people who will start and run their own companies in the future.
Whether you’re with us 6 months or 6 years, your time at On Deck should be less “a step on your career ladder” and more a series of learning curves — each helping you grow and develop your founder tool-kit.
The faster you can run up a curve, the harder we’ll work to make sure there’s another one so you can continue growing. When you feel you’ve learned what you need, we’ll help you start a company and back you all the way: you’ll have the best access to potential co-founders and collaborators in the world through the On Deck community.
The Opportunity
Simply put: if you want to start a company in the coming years, there is no better place for you to do an internship.

What you’ll do

      • This will be the hardest internship you’ll ever have.
      • If you earn it (and you should), you’ll have more autonomy and responsibility than any other internship you could take this Fall.
      • You’ll work directly with Brandon Taleisnik (Employee #1, VP of Operations), Shriya Nevatia (Head of Fellowship Operations, previously Founder & CEO of The Violet Society), and Shiraz Dole (Operations Lead) on everything ops including:
      • Fellowship Programming Calendar (everything from designing the experience to booking guests to hosting interviews)
      • New events & initiatives (design & launch experiments to help fellows work together, learn from each other, and connect)
      • Sweating the small stuff (ensuring we give fellows & speakers a highly professional experience with every last detail prepared, from cold email to thank you message)
      • Ultimately, ensuring fellows have a mind-blowing experience unlike any other community they’ve ever been part of
      • You’ll come away with hundreds (maybe thousands) of new relationships, connections, and an experience that is truly one-of-a-kind connecting top technology Founders & Investors with Fellows from around the world.
      • The Operations team will be here for you. Any question, any ask, any meeting, anything you need — we will block time to make it happen.
Note: this internship description was borrowed heavily from Ryan Delk who co-founded Primer (backed by Founders Fund, Keith, Naval, Cyan, etc) with Maksim Stepanenko (ODF2).

Who you are

    • Natural community-builder – understands the long-game, and how to cultivate positive-sum value
    • High output, execution, and hustle – an ability to own all operations, and an eagerness to dive into the nitty gritty.
    • Thrives in a fast-paced, often scrappy, sometimes chaotic environment
    • Passionate about startups & constantly learning about tech
    • Serious about inclusion and creating a safe space for diverse individuals
    • Has a strong “spirit of service”, where you think first how you can give, rather than take, and always seeking opportunities to support Fellows to the max of your ability.
    • Meticulously detail-oriented and organized – able to juggle many priorities while not dropping any balls.
    • Has great interpersonal skills, charisma, and enjoys building new relationships
    • Has strong communication skills – verbal, written and presentation
Location, start date and compensation:
Our team works remotely, but you will have to be available to work on U.S. PST-friendly hours, which may be difficult from Europe or Asia. This is a paid, full-time Fall internship.
You would start as soon as possible.
